Beaches

There are at least ten beaches within half an hour drive...from Bajamar to Tivives, to Agujas, to Playa Azul, to Hermosa and more...some are larger, some are secluded and private...go exploring!

National Parks

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica is only a few minutes from Ventanas...Carara National Park, the home of the endangered scarlet macaws ...and closeby, the Tarcoles river, home to several of the best birding tours in the world and the huge crocodiles which inhabit it.  Costa Rica is about nature and wildlife...its flora and fauna!

Snorkeling & Fishing

Depending upon your individual tastes and goals...north of south along the coast of Costa rica as well as the islands in the Gulf of Nicoya...all are varied AND gorgeous.

Deep sea fishing:   hugely popular here and a MUST activity...

Take a Drive

"One of our favorite things to do is simply to hop in the car and drive...there are literally hundreds of different microclimates in Costa Rica and small towns and villages dot the countryside.    Arm yourself with a roadmap and remember...almost everyone in Costa Rica speaks a few words of English!    And also keep in mind that Costa Rica is big in variety and activity...but small in size ....about the area of West Virginia.

Canopy tours and zip lines...these tours are almost everywhere and you will see them advertised along the roads.    There is no better way to get your adrenaline going than whizzing along above the green forests and seeing Costa Rica as only the birds and animals do.

Night Life

Depending upon your preferences...Orotina is a sleepy farming community without much night life ( population is scattered and is about 50.000 )... but just down the road is the booming tourist town of Jaco Beach which offers you anything from fine dining ( or "franchise dining" if you prefer), to casinos, to nightclubs, to virtually any type of activity you want.

Take the Ferry

Just down the road in Puntarenas are ferrys that will take you AND your vehicle to the Nicoya Penninsula where more exploring awaits you.    It is a three hour drive if you prefer...but many prefer to wait and take a short 45 minute boat ride.    The islands in the penninsula and the trip is stunning!

Take a Trip to San José

San Jose and the Central Valley...it is only a 45 minute drive from Ventanas San Mateo...shopping galore...try Escazu, Santa Ana for upscale shoping and restaurants.

Golf

Golf...just around the corner at Los Suenos is some of the best golfing in all of Latin America.
